Send to a Friend

Any website owner’s main goal is to have as many visitors as possible. Therefore, any feature or effort that contributes to the website’s popularization should be used. Web surfers often wish to recommend a certain webpage to their friends, - be it because of its content or simply because of its attractive appearance.

• Send to a Friend is an extension developed for Adobe Dreamweaver MX or later (Dreamweaver MX, MX 2004, DW 8, CS3, CS4, CS5, CS6, CC,...);
• Send to a Friend offers your website visitors the opportunity to recommend it to other users or friends;
• Send to a Friend sends an email to each of the persons to whom the recommendation is addressed. The email message will contain comments, if entered by the user, and the content of the recommended webpage or just its URL (as decided by website’s owner);
• It's easy and fast to use;
• Uses Ajax to post the form; no need to reload the page;
• Two versions are provided: one with a classic form like the demo on this page and another with the form plus a captcha image to prevent spam robots;

Requirements

• Requires Adobe Dreamweaver MX or later version (ex: Mx 2004, Dreamweaver 8, CS3, CS4, CS5,...);
• Send to a Friend requires capacity to execute PHP scripts on the server where the website is hosted;

Restart Dreamweaver.

In Dreamweaver Go to Command > Send to a Friend

To use Send to a Friend on a webpage being developed with Dreamweaver, you will have to:

Save the webpage where Send to a Friend will be used;
By executing the extension Send to a Friend (See how to access Send to a Friend under Installation), a setup window will appear. This is necessary for the correct functioning of the extension.

Message Content: select one of the options: send the URL of the webpage (the recommendation message will only contain user’s comments and the URL of the recommended page), OR send the entire page in the message content (message will contain user’s comments and the complete webpage).

Emails count: defines the maximum amount of email addresses that can be entered at the same time to recommend a page. If this field is left empty, or if a value other than a number is entered, 1 will be taken as default value.

When you insert a new Send to a Friend into your webpage, a new folder is automatically created in your website, named TEScript. This folder will contain all javascript and php files necessary for the extension.

The TEScript folder, together with the files it contains, must be published together with your website at the same location relative to the webpage that contains a Send to a Friend.
